Amazon Brazil PPC Guide
Amazon Brazil sells in Brazilian Portuguese, prices in reais and runs on a southern hemisphere retail calendar. See how those facts change keyword research, break-even maths and hourly bidding.

Marketplace Overview
Amazon Brazil (amazon.com.br) sells in Brazilian Portuguese and prices in Brazilian reais, and the paperwork sits in front of the advertising rather than behind it. The standard route is a Brazilian legal entity holding a CNPJ, registered with the state tax authority and able to issue the electronic invoice known as the nota fiscal. Amazon's own fulfilment programme adds conditions on top, because it depends on a state tax registration and only some states qualify, and sellers who ship with their own logistics upload the invoice file to Seller Central themselves. Settle which of those you can satisfy before you plan a launch, because they decide whether you run Amazon fulfilment, Amazon's delivery service or your own courier, and each route carries a different cost into your break-even.
The trading calendar is Brazilian and its seasons run opposite to the northern hemisphere. Carnival moves with Easter rather than sitting on a fixed date, it is observed across the country, and the dispatch window around it is worth confirming with your carrier every year. Dia dos Namorados, the Brazilian equivalent of Valentine's Day, falls in June. Dia das Crianças in October is the toy date. Father's Day is in August rather than June. Black Friday and Christmas close the year, and the statutory thirteenth salary lands in the same window. Summer runs from December to February, so a northern hemisphere seasonal range arrives out of phase and a lookback window imported from a US or UK account will bid on the wrong season.
Two things about price are specific to this store. Amazon Brazil runs an interest free instalment programme that sellers are enrolled into, with its own fee and its own minimum price, both set by Amazon and both revised from time to time, so read the current terms in Seller Central and carry that fee into your break-even rather than your gross margin. Where a product is in the programme the page shows a per instalment figure beside the total, so a price change moves two numbers rather than one. Separately, the country is part way through replacing ICMS, ISS, IPI, PIS and Cofins with the new CBS and IBS across a transition that runs for several years, so treat any landed cost model you build for Brazil as something to review on a schedule rather than a fixed input.
PPC Advertising Tips for Amazon Brazil
Research in Portuguese, do not translate
Portuguese inflects for gender and number, so masculine, feminine, singular and plural forms are separate search strings and exact match will not bridge them. Brazilian usage also differs from European Portuguese, and several categories use borrowed English words in everyday speech. Build the keyword set from what the store itself shows you, in Portuguese, rather than translating an English listing.
Cover accented and unaccented spellings
Accented and unaccented spellings of the same word are different strings: bebe and bebê, colchao and colchão, organico and orgânico. Add both forms as separate targets, then let the search term report settle which one your shoppers actually type instead of assuming the correct spelling wins.
Build the year on the Brazilian calendar
Carnival first, then Dia dos Namorados in June, Dia das Crianças in October, and Black Friday and Christmas to close. Start each bid lookback after the last of those rather than straddling one, because a Carnival week's conversion rate is not the baseline you want to bid from.
Set hourly bids on local Brazilian hours
Brazil spans more than one time zone and does not observe daylight saving at present, so local shopping hours stay where they are all year while the gap to a northern hemisphere clock still changes twice a year. Check which time zone your hourly schedule is stored in, and re-check it at those changeovers, because a schedule executing on a US clock shapes Brazilian traffic an hour out for part of the year. Bid by hourly revenue per click deviation over untouched base bids rather than pausing a weak hour, and remember the hour rule multiplies the placement modifier instead of replacing it.
Set targets off a Brazilian break-even
Break-even here carries state level indirect tax, the invoicing obligation, the instalment programme fee where your product is enrolled, and whichever fulfilment route you chose. Those vary by state, by product and by route, so there is no single national break-even to aim at. Express every ACoS target relative to the break-even of the product and route it belongs to.
Check the auction and the formats before budgeting
Search your own root keywords on amazon.com.br, count the sponsored slots, look at how many results carry a Prime badge and read whether the listings are native Portuguese or machine translated. Then confirm in the ads console which formats are actually available in this marketplace, because rollout order differs between Amazon's stores and a playbook written for the US can assume a format that is not there.

- Pet Shop (Pet Supplies)
- Brinquedos e Jogos (Toys and Games)
- Ferramentas e Materiais de Construção (Tools and DIY)
- Eletrônicos e Tecnologia (Electronics)
Challenges
- -A CNPJ and the electronic invoicing setup come before the first campaign
- -Amazon's fulfilment programme depends on a state tax registration and only some states qualify
- -Indirect tax is set at state level and is mid transition to CBS and IBS, so landed cost is not one national figure
- -Listings need native Brazilian Portuguese; translated copy misses the words shoppers type
- -Imports clear Brazilian customs and carry import taxes, so most sellers hold stock locally
Opportunities
- +One language and one currency cover the whole country, unlike a multi market European rollout
- +Native Portuguese keyword sets are a durable advantage over machine translated listings
- +The auction differs by department, so root level research in the store tells you a lot before you commit budget
- +No daylight saving at present, so local shopping hours stay in the same place across the year
- +The instalment display gives a second lever on how price reads, beside the headline figure
